PReS-FINAL-2290: Is an abnormal lipid profile at diagnosis related to increased disease activity in JSLE patients
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction Lipid profile has been studied in Systemic Lupus Erythematous (SLE) due to the significant morbidity and mortality associated with premature coronary heart disease. Variations in lipid profile in adults with SLE are associated with overall disease activity, with Triglyceride (TG) levels associated with renal flare. Examination of lipid profile in juvenile-onset SLE (JSLE) showed a statistically significant drop in TG in transition from a state of active disease to inactive disease & TG levels to be significantly correlated with proteinuria at diagnosis.

PReS-FINAL-2303: Exploring potential differences in demographics, family history and disease characteristics in JSLE patients with different age of onset
Introduction Juvenile-onset SLE (JSLE) is a severe auto-immune disease that can occur in children at any age. Variations regarding the extent of organ involvement, disease activity and damage are found in different age categories. Factors that may contribute to an earlier age of onset are gender, ethnicity and positive family history of SLE. It has been shown that JSLE has a more aggressive dis...

Methods Forty-three JSLE patients (revised ACR criteria, mean age = 14.3 yrs, 36F:7M), and 35 age and gender matched healthy controls were studied; 30 JSLE had SLEDAI score 4, reflected active disease. Soluble molecules were measured by commercial ELISA kits. Lymphocytes and monocytes were stained with specific moAbs and analyzed by flow cytometry. Kruskal-Wallis test and Spearman’s rank were e...
متن کاملThe Effect of Exercise on Paraoxonase-1 Activity and Lipid Profile in Obesity and Insulin Resistance Conditions
In the absence of insulin, regular physical activity facilitates the glucose entry into the cell via affecting several signaling pathways. Moreover, regular exercise improves the lipid profile and increases the paraoxonase-1 (PON-1) activity. PON-1 interacts with High-density lipoprotein (HDL) and, in the presence of calcium, hydrolyzes free radicals, prevents low-density lipoprotein (LDL) oxid...
متن کاملComparison of the effect of 8 weeks of aerobic and resistance training on lipid profile and blood pressure of inactive obese women with hypertension
Background and Objectives: Lack of physical activity is a worrying condition because it leads to major health problems such as obesity, high blood pressure and various metabolic disorders. Exercise is a lifestyle change suggested to reduce atherogenic markers in adults. Increased physical activity and fitness are clearly associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, but the optimal ...

Methods we detected all our jSLE patients from our database. We collected sociodemographic data and both clinical and serological variables from our jSLE patients’ charts at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, Esplugues (Catalunya, Spain). We defined the following variables: cutaneous disease (as presence of discoid lupus, photosensitivity, and/or malar rash), joint disease (arthritis), hematological di...
